SarasotaCatMom I purchased the Scoop Free Automatic Litter Box a little over a year ago. I have one Siamese cat and the tray last almost a month before needing changed. I love the Scoop Free Automatic Box and my cat seems to like it too. I signed up for Scoop Free's automatic free delivery for the trays. I love not having to go to the store to buy these trays and lug them home. I would absolutely recommend this Scoop Free Automatic Box.!

Franswahz I have two 15+ old indoor cats who ""output"" more than what would be considered normal. Cleaning out the litterboxes several times a day has been my daily routine for a long time, (not to mention cleaning the litterboxes etc.). But this is now the past ever since I purchased the ScoopFree litterbox. It has changed my life!

Although the claim is that you can wait up to 2 weeks (for 2 pets) before replacing the cartridge, my experience is that in reality it would be closer to 10 days; although this may depend on your pet's output. For my two boys, 10 days seems to be stretching it This ups the cost of course, but compared to the work/hassle of emptying and cleaning out the litterboxes, it's worth it to me. All I do now is check if all is ok; out of habit I guess :)

I replaced their old litterboxes with ScoopFree ""cold turkey"" and they both took to it immediately. It has not been a problem at all. The crystals really work their magic as there is NEVER any smell that lingers, be it for a ""#1"" or ""#2"".

The cleaning action is quiet enough so as not to disturb my pets. What's nice is that the 20 minute countdown gets reset to zero when either the pets returns, or the second one gets in the box, avoiding scaring the pet. Also, you can manually activate the cleaning action without having to wait for it to happen automatically.

After hearing my praises, a friend of mine recently bought the ScoopFree litterbox for her cat, and both are more than very satisfied with the change.

I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

riotborne PROS:

No more strong litter odor and dust everywhere. I used to buy scented litter because the unscented did not cover up the smell. The dust was everywhere, and my cat smelled strongly of the scent. Now, no scent, just my furry cat. There is no dust, and the cartridge lasts about 3 weeks before I notice a slight smell. I buy in bulk and it is not that much more expensive then the litter I was buying before, but without the strong smell!

And, there is much less waste. Scooping everday for one month amounted to a lot of waste -compared with a thin cartridge once a month.

The crystals are bigger, so there is less tracking, and I have not yet had to clean the rake (2 months of use)

CONS

My cat went twice in the house when going through the adjustment (though, he was mannered enough to go on the paper I had laid out for painting the walls).

The motor still surprises him (2 months later).

A little bit more expensive than the old litter Scoop Away (but less dust, no odor, and cleaning once a month!).

Must be near an electric plug.

Purple hood that screams ""I'm right here!""

Not as much privacy as the little swing door we had on his old box.

TOTALLY WORTH IT!

ShebaKitty I have had this system for over year. This is my first automatic litter system and I was very hesitant to spend the money...but I have not regretted it. I have 1 kitty who is a senior citizen. Her urine odor is very strong and this was always a problem with traditional cat litter. Since we began using this system, though, there has been no odor. The crystals control it very well. Most of the time, I can get 6-7 weeks out of a litter refill.

The only cons with this system are the cost of the refills and the lack of availability. I was able to buy the system in a store, but I haven't found a single retailer that carries the refills in a store. Despite that, this is an inconvenience that I am willing to put up with, because I am so happy with the cleanliness and convenience of the system itself. I would highly recommend the system, just would love it if the retailers would cooperate.

therocksgirl26 I purchased this unit almost 1 month ago and I love it. My kitten seems to use the bathroom more that normal it seems, so I was always cleaing the box every day and changing it every other.

I changed it with out wiening her off of the other one and had no problems she used it right away.

The unit makes things odorless, only after about 3 weeks did I start to smell a little something.

I recomend this unit to everyone, its a little expensive but worth not having to deal with cleaning it and not smelling the odors.

Only con about this product and its my cats fault not the product is that she is always in the box. As soon as she hears it cleaning she comes running and gets right back in it causing it to reset its self over and over again.....( Wonder how long it will be before she burns out the motor).

doodlesmom Our cat will not cover up his ""poo"" when he uses the litter box. So as you can imagine this led to some lovely scents in our home. Finally we decided, if he won't cover it himself we will get a litter box that will. We finally decided on the Scoopfree being that all you have to do is toss the litter boxes every 15-30 days. We toss ours about every 20-25 days. We like it in general, it took a little getting used to for the motorized sound it makes when it scoops the litter but you quickly get used to it. Now I barely notice it at all. It is cheaper to get the refills online and if you get multiples it is also cheaper. But it is so quick and easy, we started putting a potty pad underneath the box to absorb any moisture that may make its way thru the cardboard but it is very minimal.

Solomon This is a clean way to keep a litter box. However, it does not last one month and recently I only got two weeks out of a refill box. This is because the gel became saturated and the rake would no longer pass smoothly over the gel. This results in waste not being pushed into the box as it is supposed to. I can't imagine that it could last a month. Also, if you are concerned about cost, this is quite an expensive system. Also it is not exactly ecologically friendly as the box is large, coated in plastic and the litter is a gel. The system was given to me because I was babysitting a cat for one month and the owner thought this was the least offensive litter system. It probably is, but the drawbacks are expense and size of unit that needs to be discarded.

fabiobasile We had this litterbox for a few months now and at first it worked great, it would activate automatically everytime our kittens would be done with their business. About three months ago the automatic feature stopped working, but still we only need to press a button so, no biggie. It would have been great if it didn't break, but for the priice i think it was quite a bargain, and the litter lasts for about two solid weeks before starting to smell.

The downside is that if you have a cat that likes to spend a lot of time digging the litter, you end up having to sweep many of the tiny crystals off the floor, as the box is not tall enough for the litter to hit the walls. Other than that it's ok when you don't have a lot of money to spend.

jdcCatOwner I have been using the Scoop Free Litter Trays for a year now. I like them because the litter is a larger grain and doesn't track through the house and becuase I only have to scoop 1xper week. That is right is is not really scoop-free. They should have called it scoop-less. There is too much poo for the machine to last the whole 20-30 days without scooping it out every so often. I have only 1 cat and still only get 21-25 days out of a tray. But I keep using them becuase I was so tired of scooping daily and this is a good alternative to that if you don't mind the price.
